Policies

Remember! We do offer recurring billing on your credit/debit card as well as bank draft set up. Call us to sign up, 336.731.4025 and press 0 to be connected with someone.

Please place your container(s) by the curbside the night before your pick-up day. Our drivers leave daily, before 6:00 a.m., to begin each route. Please leave your container(s) by the curbside until at least 6:00 p.m. to guarantee your pick up in case a route is held up for any reason.

All trucks are radio-dispatched, if your garbage is not out when they come by, it will be radioed back to the office. There will be a $20.00 service fee if they have to return. Please remember it is your responsibility to have it out on time.

RESIDENTIAL SERVICE

Residential households are billed on a 3-month cycle for one 98 gallon container we provide. If additional containers are needed, they are available for an extra $5.50 per month, per container (or $16.50 every 3 months, per container). Containers are ONLY provided with service. They are property of NDGS, Inc. If you move, we require that you inform the office to cancel your service. You may also transfer service to your new address as long as it is within our service area, by calling the office and confirming the transfer.

SPECIAL RESIDENTIAL SERVICE

Any resident who needs assistance in garbage and recycling collection at the house side, rather than curbside, is now required to provide documentation from a doctor expressing the physical need for the resident to have their garbage and recycling picked up at their home.* Without this documentation, house side collection can not be provided. Contact us to discuss your needs.

*If this service is already provided for you, and you are not physically disabled, a doctor’s note will not be needed until the household is occupied by a new owner.

COMMERCIAL SERVICE

Commercial properties are billed $25.00 per month on a 3-month cycle for one 98 gallon container we provide. They are property of NDGS, Inc. If you close or move, we require that you inform the office to cancel your service. You may also transfer service to your new location as long as it is within our service area, by calling the office and confirming the transfer.

CONTAINERS

We provide the container for you when you are paying for our service. We have a 98 gallon limit per week per household. Additional containers are available for an additional fee of $16.50 per quarter. Please do not share your service with neighbors or friends. If caught sharing, your service is subject to cancellation and a $50.00 fine will be added to your account. Some of our customers choose to use their own containers and not the ones we provide. If you choose to do this, 1) the office must know in advance to inform the driver/runner on your route and 2) please know that we are not liable for anything that may happen to your container since we do ask that you use the ones we provide instead.

ITEMS WE CANNOT TAKE

NO yard waste (grass clippings, leaves, shrubs, Christmas trees) construction debris, oil, wood, hazardous waste, paint, tires, and automobile batteries. As of June 1, 2011 it is against the law to put televisions and other electronics in the landfill. We can no longer accept any TVs or monitors in the garbage collection or at our recycling facility. ITEMS WE CAN TAKE

Normal household waste, cans, newspapers, foods, clothes, small appliances, plastics, boxes (please break them down), and empty paint cans (only if lid is off and paint is dried up). Please bag any broken glass and label it so our employees are protected from being cut. If you use needles, please put them in a plastic containor and place them on top of your trash within your container. Large appliances can now be picked up for a small fee! We will come and get these items separately, ONLY when you call the office to schedule a special pickup.

IF you have large items you would like us to throw away, please call our office in advance to ensure they are picked up.

RECYCLING

If recycling has started in your area, we provide an 18 gallon bin for your use. If you need more, you can call our office or email us for additional bins. You also have the option to buy your own recycling container and CLEARLY label it for our employees to see. It must be legible from 20 feet away and say “RECYCLING” in at least 3 inch tall letters. Or, recycling stickers are available apon request. Another option is to rent one of our 98 gallon containers for a small fee of $5.00 per month. Please contact our office to request this additional service.

E-CYCLING

We can collect electronics and large and small appliances for $20. Televisions are no longer allowed in the landfill, so we cannot collect them. However, there is a designated area in the landfill for drop-off if you take it yourself.

SPECIAL PICK UP

If you have more than a 98 gallon container of garbage or have bulk item(s) you would like to discard, you MUST call the office in advance to have it picked up. These pick-ups are separately priced and are quoted on a case by case basis.

HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

Our service operates MONDAY through FRIDAY and EVERY HOLIDAY WITH THE EXCEPTION OF CHRISTMAS DAY. For inclement weather, please call the office at 336.731.4025 or go to our facebook page for timely updates at http://www.facebook.com/NorthDavidsonGarbageService.

BILLING

  • We bill on a 3-month cycle, all payments are in advance
  • 1st bill will be prorated if not a full 3 months
  • A late fee of $1 will be applied to any bill paid after the 25th and will recur each month until account balance is paid in full
  • 60 days from your billing date, if account is not paid in full, services will be discontinued and account information turned over to a collection agency. You will be notified on your bill if you are in danger of having your account cancelled. NO OTHER NOTICE WILL BE SENT. To resume services if discontinued for non-payment, the current bill due must be paid in full, plus a $25 RESTART FEE and 3 MONTHS ADVANCE.

As of October 1, 2014, a fee of $40 will automatically be charged to any account being paid with a check that is returned for ANY reason. (examples would be insufficient funds, closed account, etc.)
